Defect

Blue Bird Bus Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2027 Vision school buses. The retractors may not lock, preventing the wheelchair from being properly secured.

Consequence

An unsecured wheelchair can move during transit, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy

Dealers will inspect and replace the retractors as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 17. 2026. Owners may contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242.

Blue Bird Bus Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2026-2027 Vision and All American school buses. The windows may have illegible DOT markings. As such these windows fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 205, "Glazing Materials."

Consequence

A missing DOT code mark may result in the window being replaced with an incorrect type of glass, increasing the risk of a injury.

Remedy

Dealers will inspect and repair the glass etching, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 19, 2026. Owners may contact Blue Bird's customer service at 1-478-822-2242.

Blue Bird Bus Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2026-2027 Vision and All American school buses equipped with QRT-Deluxe and QRT-Max wheelchair restraints. The retractors may not lock, preventing the wheelchair from being properly secured.

Consequence

An unsecured wheelchair can move during transit, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy

Blue Bird will work with Q'Straint to inspect and replace the retractors as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 29, 2026. Owners may contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242.

Blue Bird Bus Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2025-2027 Vision school buses. The wheelchair lift may have a missing support brace, causing the wheelchair lift to fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 404, "Platform Lift Installations."

Consequence

A wheelchair lift that fails increases the risk of injury.

Remedy

Blue Bird will install the missing support brace, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 4, 2026. Owners may contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242.
