Terms of Use
By using VehicleVerdict, you agree to these terms. They exist to be clear about what this site is — an independent research tool built on public data — and what it is not.
Last updated: July 6, 2026
What VehicleVerdict is
VehicleVerdict aggregates public U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) records — consumer complaints, safety recalls, defect investigations, and crash-test ratings — and presents them as plain-English summaries. It is an independent project and is not affiliated with NHTSA, the U.S. Department of Transportation, or any vehicle manufacturer.
Not advice
The information on this site is provided for research and educational purposes only. It is not purchase, safety, financial, or legal advice. Complaint narratives are unverified consumer statements, not confirmed defects. Always check a specific vehicle's open recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls and have any used vehicle independently inspected before purchase. How every figure is derived is documented in our methodology.
Accuracy & availability
We work to keep the data accurate and current, but we make no warranty that it is complete, correct, or up to date, and the underlying government datasets can lag or contain errors. The site is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, and may change or be unavailable at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, VehicleVerdict and its operator are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the information on this site. You use the site and make vehicle decisions at your own risk.
Intellectual property & acceptable use
The underlying records are public U.S. government works. The site's original writing, design, and compiled presentation are the property of VehicleVerdict. You may link to and cite our pages; please don't scrape, republish at scale, or misrepresent the data as official NHTSA output.
