Defect

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS. THE AIR BRAKE RESERVOIR ASSEMBLIES HAVE POOR WELD FUSION AT THE WELDED SEAMS IN THE RESERVOIRS. THIS COULD RESULT IN REPUTURE OF THE SEAM AND SUBSEQUENT RELEASE OF THE COMPRESSED AIR.

Consequence

RAPID RELEASE OF THE COMPRESSED AIR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CAB FLOOR OR SURROUNDING COMPONENTS AND COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY. LOSS OF PRESSURE FROM THE PRIMARY RESERVOIR WOULD ALSO RESULT IN LOSS OF AIR SUPPLY TO THE FRONT BRAKES INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH.

Remedy

DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY AIR BRAKE RESERVOIRS.
