2019 Genesis G80 problems

Verdict · NHTSA data

One of the years to avoid

The 2019 Genesis G80 carries two red flags at once: 34 consumer complaints filed with NHTSA — 2.7× the G80 norm — and an open NHTSA defect investigation (subject: Hyundai and Kia ABS Module Fires). It is one of the G80 years to avoid.

No single system dominates the record — complaints spread across other (7), electrical system (7), and brakes (5), which usually points to general build quality rather than one defect. In government crash testing it earned 5 of 5 NCAP stars overall.

Oil pressured sensor went bad $2500 fix from dealer. In Korea this is a recall. The Genesis forums are full of complaints regarding same issue. The factory should cover this but the 10 year 100000 mile warranty does not cover it since it is considered an electrical part.
