2009 Honda Pilot problems

Verdict · NHTSA data

Worth extra scrutiny

The 2009 Honda Pilot is a recall-heavy year with an otherwise ordinary complaint record: 9 NHTSA recall campaigns apply, yet its 174 owner complaints run below the Pilot median. The recalls matter more than the complaint count here — verify every campaign was completed before buying. Complainants reported 18 injuries in total across these filings.

No single system dominates the record — complaints spread across engine (39), airbags (29), and suspension (19), which usually points to general build quality rather than one defect.
