2014 Hyundai Equus problems

Verdict · NHTSA data

One of the years to avoid

The 2014 Hyundai Equus carries two red flags at once: 54 consumer complaints filed with NHTSA — 3.9× the Equus norm — and an open NHTSA defect investigation (subject: Hyundai and Kia ABS Module Fires). It is one of the Equus years to avoid.

No single system dominates the record — complaints spread across electrical system (7), seats (7), and suspension (7), which usually points to general build quality rather than one defect.
