2006 Subaru Baja problems

Verdict · NHTSA data

Worth extra scrutiny

The 2006 Subaru Baja is a recall-heavy year with an otherwise ordinary complaint record: 10 NHTSA recall campaigns apply, yet its 33 owner complaints run below the Baja median. The recalls matter more than the complaint count here — verify every campaign was completed before buying.

No single system dominates the record — complaints spread across engine (8), suspension (5), and airbags (3), which usually points to general build quality rather than one defect.
