2018 BMW X3 problems

Verdict · NHTSA data

Worth extra scrutiny

The 2018 BMW X3 is a recall-heavy year with an otherwise ordinary complaint record: 11 NHTSA recall campaigns apply, yet its 102 owner complaints run below the X3 median. The recalls matter more than the complaint count here — verify every campaign was completed before buying.

No single system dominates the record — complaints spread across electrical system (20), engine (19), and other (12), which usually points to general build quality rather than one defect.
