2015 Ford Taurus problems

Verdict · NHTSA data

Worth extra scrutiny

The 2015 Ford Taurus is a recall-heavy year with an otherwise ordinary complaint record: 6 NHTSA recall campaigns apply, yet its 333 owner complaints run below the Taurus median. The recalls matter more than the complaint count here — verify every campaign was completed before buying. Complainants reported 11 injuries in total across these filings.

No single system dominates the record — complaints spread across fuel system (72), steering (50), and driver assistance (43), which usually points to general build quality rather than one defect. In government crash testing it earned 5 of 5 NCAP stars overall.

Consequence

The failed bracket could result in a loss of park function which can cause unintended vehicle movement, and loss of motive power while driving which increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Owners received an interim notification detailing safety risk December 8, 2020. A second letter will be mailed when parts become available in January 2021. The recall began February 2, 2021. Remedy
